

Patricia Ruth Moriarty Askew, 92 years, passed away in her home Saturday, June 17, 2017.Patricia was born October 18, 1924 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, but moved to Atlanta, Georgia when she was a baby. Her family moved to Jacksonville, Florida in 1932. Jacksonville has been her home since she was eight years old. Patricia is survived by her three daughters and their husbands, Nancy and Billy Bushman, Patty and Gene Redding, and Donna and Dave Kelley. She leaves behind the loves of her life, her grandchildren: Aimee Breunig, Julie Ann Shamlaty, Commander William Bushman, USN, Patti Bannon, Katie Stokes, Shannon and Stacy Redding, and Chale Kelley.Patricia graduated from St. Pauls Catholic High School in 1942. She was employed at the Naval Air Station Jacksonville until her retirement in 1984. Patricia was a strong and independent woman until her death. She was a lifelong devoted Catholic and active member of Christ the King Catholic Church since 1956 where she was a member of the Catholic Woman’s Club, Christ the King Council of Catholic Women and St. Bernadette Circle. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 21st from 6-7 with a Rosary at 7:00 pm in the Chapel of Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 940 Cesery Blvd., Jacksonville, FL. 32211. The Mass of Christian burial is 10:00 am Thursday, June 22nd at Christ the King Catholic Church, 742 Arlington Rd. Jacksonville, FL 32211 with Father James Boddie officiating and Msgr. Mortimer Danaher co-officiating. Interment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park in Jacksonville, FL. Active Pallbearers are her son in laws, Billy Bushman, Gene Redding and Dave Kelley, her grandsons and granddaughters’ husbands, Chuck Breunig, Ron Shamlaty, Billy Bushman Jr, James Bannon, John Stokes, and Chale Kelley. Honorary Pallbearers are her great nephew Paul Moriarty and her great friend, Paul Bailey.
