

returned to our Lord and Savior on September 20th, 2024, with his beloved family by his side.
Graduated from Chung-Yang Christian College of Science and Engineering with honor and
obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering in 1965. He then worked at the same
college as a teaching assistance and met his first wife, Susan S. Li. They were married in 1971. Paul
came to Atlanta, Georgia in 1969 and completed a Master of Science Degree in Engineering Mechanics
at Georgia Institute of Technology in 1970.
He relocated to Jacksonville in 1972 and worked in the Engineering field with Preston H. Haskell Company from 1972-1974, Haley W. Keister and Associates 1974-1975, and then City of Jacksonville Engineering Division from May 1975 to September 1975 as an Associate Structural Engineer and became a Chief Structural Engineer from October 1975 to May 1986. He left for the private sector in 1986 and founded what would become the Paul Li Engineering Group.
Paul was a lifetime member of the ASCE, received his PE in Civil/Structural in 1975 and became a
FDOT-approved Bridge Inspector in the same year. In 1983, he passed the Mechanical Engineering
Boards. Paul was also a licensed real estate broker.
Founding member of the Jacksonville Chinese-American Cultural Association, First Baptist Church
Chinese Group, Choir and Translator, and later a member of Chinese Christian Church of Jacksonville.
He is survived by his wife, Li-Chu Lin; son, Chauncey (Yu-Chun), their children Vivian, Allison, Samantha, and Nathan Li; stepsons, Shen Yi Chen and Hao Yen Chen (Rena), their children Layla and Leon;
brothers, Shing-Ted (Florence) and Ernest (Mei); niece Amy (Jason), their children Tyler and Erik. Along with numerous friends and extended family.
Preceded in death by his parents, Ming-Fa and Feng-Yu, beloved wife, Susan S. Li (d. 2004), and
niece, Cindy.
A memorial service will be on 10/15/2024 at the Chinese Christian Church of Jacksonville at 10:30am.
