

Mrs. Pauline Annette O’Brien (Laurin), age 84, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2017 in Jacksonville, Florida with her family by her bedside. She was born in Gardner, Massachusetts on May 2, 1932 to the late Marie Rose and Paul Laurin.
Pauline graduated from Gardner High School in June 1950. She moved to Jacksonville in 1955 with her husband where she was a longtime resident and member of St. Matthews Catholic Church. Pauline retired from St. Vincent’s Medical Center in 1989 after many years of service. Pauline was known for her faith, generosity, and love of family. She enjoyed the Jacksonville Jaguars, watching Jeopardy!, reading the newspaper, and spending time with loved ones, including her dog, Milo.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Willard W. O’Brien, age 80, in 2006, her son Charles O’Brien, her grandsons, Christopher O’Brien and Robert Keith Futch, and her brothers Gerald Laurin and Francis Laurin. She is survived by her four sons, John, James, Patrick, and Robert O’Brien as well as four daughters, Mary Ann Bennett (Dave), Donna Futch (Roblee), Theresa Schmehl (Stephen), and Rosemarie Lewis (Marc). She is also survived by her sister Cecile Sweeney as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank Ft. Caroline Gardens Assisted Living and VITAS Hospice Healthcare for the exceptional care and comfort they provided to Pauline.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Matthews Catholic Church, 1773 Blanding Blvd., Jacksonville FL 32210 on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at 10am with Father Luke McLoughlin officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, 4535 Main St. N., Jacksonville, FL 32206. The family will receive friends at Hardage-Giddens, 729 Edgewood Ave. S., Jacksonville FL 32205, from 6-8pm on Wednesday, February 22, 2017. Vigil services will begin at 7pm. Arrangements are under the care of Hardage-Giddens, 729 Edgewood Ave. S., Jacksonville FL 32205.
