Care.
Pearl was born on August 21, 1924, in Rabat, Morocco to Jacob and Messody Azran. She is
survived by her daughters: Nancy Douglas, Carol (Michael) Hill, and Diane (Derrick) Hoxie, all of
St Augustine. Also five grandchildren: Laramie (Peter) Logan, Matthew (Joanne) Hill, Derrick
(Julia) Hoxie, Kathryn (Justin) Reeves and Jillian Hoxie, and eight great-grandchildren; Maia, Ty
and Grace Logan; Annabelle and Derrick Hoxie; Lainey, Meredith and Nathan Reeves. She
was preceded in death by her husband Henry Kwiatkowski, grandson Dr David Henry Hill, and
son-in-law, Ray Douglas.
She met and married her husband Henry at the end of World War II in Rabat. They lived in
Morocco and Spain, eventually retiring to Bremerton, Washington. An avid bowler, she won
many trophies, in addition she volunteered as a “gray lady” also known as Red Cross. Being
multilingual, she tutored students in French and Spanish, and also taught French at the
Olympic Community College for many years.
In 2008 after her husband passed, she relocated to NE Florida to be near her daughters. She
embraced the Florida lifestyle and became very active in her retirement community, volunteering
at the health center, social committee, Dining with Dignity, monthly birthday parties, knitting club,
water aerobics, bocce ball and exercising almost daily - up to the day before her passing.
Pearl loved her grandchildren and great grands. They reciprocated their love to her,
affectionately referring to her as “sweet little Momu”, and the “Pearl of Glenmoor”.
Celebration of Life will be at Westminster of St Augustine (Crichton Hall), Thursday, 15
December at 2pm.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.hgmandarin.com for the Kwiatkowski family.
