Perry ( Peretz) Mibab, 88, died peacefully the early morning of Friday, May 20, 2022 at River Garden Hebrew Home. Perry was born on September 7, 1933 in Ludmir, Poland and was a survivor of the Holocaust along with very few of his relatives. He was the youngest of 8 children and preceded in death by his parents Chaya (Of Blessed Memory) and Chaim Mibab (OBM) as well as 7 brothers and sisters. Only Rueven (Dahlia) Mibab is still living and resides in Israel. Perry was especially close to his dear sister Rose Mibab Goldberg (OBM) who died on March 1, 2020 at age 96. Perry and his beloved wife and mother of his children of 38 years, Renee Richman Mibab (OBM), who was born and raised in New York City eventually settled in Jacksonville, FL.
Perry and Renee wanted to raise their family near Perry's sister, Rose, and her husband, Carl Goldberg (OBM), and their 3 daughters: Eva (Charles) Lipman (OBM), Anita ( David) Zucker and Susie (Bobby) Davis. Perry and Renee and Rose and Carl and their families lived only 2 houses apart on Peachtree Circle East in Jacksonville for many years. Perry was also preceded in death by Esther Mibab (OBM) and Jerry Zucker (OBM).
Perry and Renee had 4 children: Charles Mibab, Ben Mibab (David Ray, Jr.), Alan (Debra) Mibab, and Malory Mibab. Alan and Debra provided Perry with 2 amazing grandchildren, Aaron Gil Mibab (16) and Jocelyn (Joey) Brooke Mibab (14). Aaron and Jocelyn would visit and perform (sing in Hebrew and Yiddish and play piano and violin) for their grandad and other residents of River Garden Hebrew Home. Apparently they inherited all of the talent in the family!
Perry and Renee settled in Jacksonville in the early 60's. In 1965, Perry bought a service station at 3973 Hendricks Avenue. He was the owner/operator of Perry's Pure Oil and later renamed Perry's Union 76 for nearly 40 years. Perry often hosted many of his friends at his gas station. It became quite the hangout.
A special thank you to Mary Chisolm, Perry's caregiver for the last 4 years of his life. They had a special bond. Perry would light up when he would see Mary. I think he even wanted to marry her. Mary made Perry's last few years much easier for him as well as his family. Thank you very much Mary!
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Perry Mibab's memory may be made to the
