Peter Todd McArdle, beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away on March 1, 2026 at the age of 67. He was a devoted family man whose kindness, generosity, and unwavering dedication to those he loved defined his life. He was born in Washington D.C. on April 30, 1958, and grew up in Chevy Chase, Maryland. Peter earned a Bachelor of Science in Finance from the University of Maryland and later completed his MBA at Hood College. As a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), he held himself to the highest professional standards.
Peter built a respected career in finance and accounting. Over the years he served as a Financial Analyst for Computer Data Systems, Inc., as Project Manager for Xerox, as Director of Finance for Nelnet Guarantor Solutions, and as Accounting Manager for the Jacksonville Transportation Authority before retiring in 2025. He was deeply committed to his profession and known for his integrity, intelligence, and strong work ethic. He took great pride in his work and the responsibilities he carried throughout his career.
Outside of his professional life, Peter found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved long bike rides, reading, and listening to music. He had a true appreciation for good food and enjoyed gourmet cooking, often creating memorable meals for those he loved. Those who knew him well appreciated his subtle and dry sense of humor. His wit was quiet and understated, often delivered with perfect timing. Though naturally shy, he carried himself with a quiet confidence and possessed a wide-ranging curiosity about the world. With his depth of knowledge and varied interests, he was in many ways a modern-day renaissance man.
Above all else, his greatest love was his family. He was a loyal and devoted husband, a dedicated provider, and someone who always put the needs of others before his own. Those who knew him will remember his warmth, his generosity, and the quiet strength with which he cared for the people around him.
Peter was preceded in death by his mother, Nancy Neff McArdle and precious babies John, Matthew, Ryan, and Sarah. He leaves behind the loves of his life, wife Janet and their two daughters, Madeleine (24) and Nicole (22), as well as his father, Richard C. McArdle, sister, Catherine (Steven), brother, Richard N. (Alice), uncle, Michael McArdle, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Celebration of Life for Peter will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. at Hardage Giddens Funeral Home 11801 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, Florida 32223, with a reception immediately following at his home in Saint Johns, Florida.
