

Phillip Patrick Bavido, 91, passed away on July 11, 2021 at the W. Frank Wells Nursing Home in Macclenny, Baker County, Florida. He was born on March 17, 1930 in Gary, Indiana to Carl Bavido and Lucille Catalano Bavido.
Phillip grew up in Chicago, Illinois. After his high school graduation, he joined the United States Army. Phillip served at the end of World War II; in the Korean conflict, and in Viet Nam where he was awarded the Purple Heart medal. He was a Green Beret with the rank of SP7. While in the service Phillip took college courses and earned an Associate’s Degree. He continued taking college courses throughout his career.
Phillip served in several countries and many duty stations in the USA while in the military. After military retirement Phillip worked for Civil Service until retirement. Phillip met Carol McKinley while living in Glen Ellyn, Illinois and they were married June 25, 1983.
Phillip is survived by his wife, Carol Bavido, his brother Carl Bavido; his sons, Rick Bavido, James Bavido, Michael Bavido, Ralph Capriano, Phillip Bavido Jr., step daughter Sheri Sforza, son-in-law Douglas McGowan; grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Phillip was preceded in death by his parents Carl and Lucille; his brother Sam Bavido, his sister-in-law, Beverly Bavido and his sister Cynthia Mustafa.
Funeral Service will be held on July 15, 2021 at 10:00 am at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin, 11801 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, FL.
Committal Service will be held on July 15, 2021 at 1:30 pm at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, FL.
