Rachel Wacholder, age 96, passed away on February 26, 2022 in her home. Rachel and her husband Mark immigrated from Argentina in 1955. They loved Florida because the warmth reminded them of Buenos Aires. Their family meant the world to them. Rachel was a superb cook who prepared delicious meals, often with an Argentine flair. She loved the opera, enjoyed reading novels and knitting beautiful sweaters. Mark was a master jeweler who designed and made exquisite pieces for his family.
Rachel was an indispensable employee wherever she worked, as a bookkeeper and office manager. In later years, she was a valued partner in the jewelry business with her husband. Their clients included fine jewelry houses, including Zales, Tiffany, and Cartier.
After Mark's death in 2013, Rachel lived at her condo in Boca Raton, until she moved to Brookdale at Mandarin in October 2021. She made new friends there and enjoyed the community very much. She felt safe and comfortable thanks to the wonderful and caring staff.
Rachel is survived by her two sons, Bernardo (Susan) Wacholder and Victor (Lynne) Wacholder, as well as four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Rachel died two weeks after celebrating her 96th birthday. She passed away peacefully in the company of her sons, surrounded by their love.
The services will be for immediate family only.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.hgmandarin.com for the Wacholder family.
