

Raymond “Ray” Cochran, 83, of Jacksonville, Florida, went to be with the Lord on January 26, 2025. A celebration of life service will occur at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home located at 4801 San Jose Blvd. Jacksonville, FL 32207 on February 4th. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. 3:00 p.m., a memorial service from 3:00 p.m. 4:00 p.m., followed by a reception from 4:00 p.m. 6:00 p.m. The family welcomes all who would like to attend. Ray will be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA, at a date to be determined.
Ray was born in Dubuque, Iowa, on December 22, 1941. He joined the Navy in 1959 at the age of 17 and, after 29 years of honorable service, retired in 1987 as a Chief Warrant Officer (CWO4). He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Ray was quick-witted and always ready to share an incredibly funny story, making him the life of the party. He loved the Lord, the love of his life, Laura, and his four children (Mike, Randy, Tammy, and Steve) with all his heart. Later in life, on Sundays, he would be in the living room watching his regular Sunday morning lineup of pastors: David Jeremiah, Charles Stanley, Ed Young, and Robert Jeffress.
Ray was predeceased by his mother and father, Bonnie (Rittenhouse) and Thomas Cochran; sister Janice Witliki; son, F. Michael Tumblin; nephews Kent and Dean Mofield; and Brother-in-law, Larry Lange.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Laura (Hazle) Cochran. Children, John “Randy” Tumblin, Sr., Tammy Kahrl (Scott), Stephen “Steve” Tumblin, grandchildren, John Tumblin Jr., Justin Tumblin (Macie), Lindsay Parrish (Shawn), Kristina Suter (Stephen), great-grandchildren, Kaleb, Kaitlin, and Kason Brandenburg, Jesse Tumblin; siblings: Monte (Cochran) Lange and Kelly Adams (Cheryl); nephew: Zachary Ray Lange and nieces: Bonnie Adams and Betsy Gordon (Eric); Aunt Patsy (Rittenhouse) Miller (Jim).
