Raymond Howard Griffis

He is one of 11 children and preceded in death his mother and father and his 5 sisters, Velma Jones, Juanita Jones, Letha Vinson and Dorothy Bell, Shirley Timmons.

Survivors include his son Eric Silas Griffis, stepdaughter Kristie Marconi Lesley, siblings Bebe Starling, Buddy Griffis (wife Pat), Evelyn Walden (husband Tony), Wayne Griffis (wife Linda), and Judy Johannes (husband LeRoy).

PFC Raymond Griffis served in the US Army and is a decorated Vietnam veteran and earned the National Defense Service Metal, Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60 DVC, Combat Infantryman’s Badge, Vietnam Service Metal Marksman (Rifle), two Overseas Service Bars, Expert (Machine Gun).

He was an active member of the American Legion Post #0088.

A memorial service will be held Monday, May 7, 2012 at the Hardage and Giddens Edgewood Funeral Home located 729 Edgewood Avenue South Jacksonville, Florida from 6PM to 8PM for family and friends. Please come celebrate the life of Raymond (Ray) Griffis. At a later date he will be laid to rest at the Jacksonville National Cemetery with military honors. Jacksonville National Cemetery is located on 4083 Laney Road.

In lieu of flowers donation will be accepted.
