Raymond William Vandergriff

Raymond William Vandergriff, 88 of Jacksonville, FL, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 5, 2013. Ray was born on October 13, 1924 in Chattanooga, TN, to Frank and Dorcus Mae Vandergriff. He was a selfless, devoted husband to Alene, whom preceded him in January of this year. Ray was an Industrial Food Salesman, a member of Mandarin United Methodist Church, and a WWII Veteran serving in the US Coast Guard, Pacific Theater.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Alene; brother, Frank; half sisters, Rosalee Rains and Grace Stanford, and is survived by his son, Kevan; daughter, Gaye (Andy) Foote; grandchildren, Justan Vandergriff, Angela (Joshua) Sheppard, Christen Foote, and many other nieces, nephews, and friends.

A Graveside Service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 10, 2013 in Mandarin Cemetery, 12535 Mandarin Road with Rev. Debbie McLeod officiating. Ray was a Christ like example of a loving Husband, father, and grandfather.
