

Richard Darnell Boatright was born on January 1, 1953, in Savannah, Georgia, and passed away June 13, 2024, in Jacksonville, Florida. Richard was twice given the gift of life with a double lung transplant. We will never forget the ultimate sacrifice these families have given through this blessing. Richard had a remarkable life and he touched many hearts with his passion, kindness, and unwavering love for his family.
Richard was known as a talented and dedicated ballroom dance instructor and judge, His expertise and enthusiasm in the world of dance inspired countless individuals, leaving a lasting impact on all who had the pleasure of learning from him.
Aside from his love for ballroom dancing, Richard had a deep affection for cars and was a skilled marksman, particularly excelling in long-range rifle shooting. His fondness for dogs, especially his cherished Dobermans Max, Vader, and Denver, brought him immense joy and companionship.
Richard's greatest joys in life revolved around his family, and he found immense happiness in watching his grandchildren. He is survived by his devoted wife of 39 years, Deborah, and his loving children - Danielle (Dustin), Cristal (Luis), Tim (Katie), Cindy, and his brother Mark. Richard has ten adoring grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
As we come together to mourn the loss of Richard, let us cherish the memories and the legacy he leaves behind. His kindness, warmth, and unwavering love for his family will forever be remembered and cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A visitation for Richard will be held Sunday, June 23, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 11801 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32223. A funeral service will occur Monday, June 24, 2024 at 12:00 PM, 11801 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32223. We will go in procession to Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32218.
