He was born to Leon and Ruth Carter on February 26, 1944 in Jacksonville, Florida. Richard was an accomplished world traveler collecting countless friends along his journeys. He worked at what became CSX and loved everything trains since childhood. He loved fishing and could not pass up a cold RC Cola and a Moon Pie.
Richard was very involved in his church throughout his life and particularly enjoyed working with Children and Youth groups.
He did a short stint in the 1960's Air Force, was a Judge for professional boxing matches and coached little league baseball throughout the 1970's.
Richard will always be remembered for his kind heart, quick wit and his entertaining stories of his life experiences. In full reflection, Richard's life was one of kindness, wisdom, and strong faith. A humble man who could speak at depth on so many subjects. Yet, his unwavering trust in God was a testament for all who knew him. His legacy will be one of great integrity, kindness, and most of all love!
Taken from an old tombstone he once came upon whilst traveling and he liked it so that he recreated it in the form of a bronze plague and mounted on the Gates to his home.
"O Reader,
All things in life are uncertain. Be ever mindful of eternity! "
