Richard was born in Jacksonville, FL on September 18, 1950 to Leonard Thomas Hagin and Betty Jane Hagin. He graduated from Landon High School and spent three years serving in the US army during the Vietnam War. Along the way he met Cherie Bennett, who would end up becoming his wife of 16 years. He eventually found his place in construction, working as a Superintendent for several years at Barco-Duval.
Richard was an avid outdoorsman, finding his way to the woods or the water every chance he got. When he wasn’t hunting or fishing, he enjoyed his Summer evenings winding down by the fire with a beer in his hand and great friends and family by his side. Richard was a good brother, a loyal friend, and a great father, who will be missed by all who knew him.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard Hagin and Betty Hagin, his brothers, Tom Hagin, David Hagin, and Dan Hagin, and his wife, Cherie Hagin. Richard is survived by his sister, Jane Newhoff, his stepdaughter, Rachel Bennett, and his loyal companion and man’s best friend, Milkshake.
There will be a graveside service held at a later date in the Garden of Cross at Greenlawn Cemetery, located at 4300 Beach Blvd. Jacksonville, FL 32207
