During his professional lifetime he was involved in various businesses including ABS and lastly, with his business partner Jan Letchman, spearheading Advance Data Systems in Jacksonville for 28 years until his retirement in June of 2011.
Rich is survived by his loving wife Sally Mumford who came into his life at the end of the century—late 1999. He is also survived by his children Christopher Mumford (Donna) and Kimberly Strong (Michael), step children Michael, Melissa and Terri Trofimov, granddaughter Natalie Strong, great granddaughter Alice Collins, his sisters Becky Wingo-Carter (David) and Susan (Sammy) Marken (John McCain), many cousins, nephews and nieces and of course his dog, Milo.
He is also survived by many special people in his life including his best friend and fishing partner Frank Gregg, business partner and friend Jan Letchman, honorary great granddaughter Dayjahnee’ Somler, longtime friends Sonny Robinson and Jim Buckholtz and his Advanced Data Systems family. He was predeceased by his grandson Seth Collins and former business partner and friend Glenn Barnhill. He leaves behind wonderful neighbors, friends, business associates and the many others with whom he shared his life.
Rich was an avid fisherman and golfer. He loyally followed and cheered for the Gators and Jaguar football teams. He shared his love of fishing with many friends and family. He made everyone he encountered feel special. He loved a great party and never met a stranger. He was an unwaveringly loyal friend to all. He will be sorely missed by all that knew him but he leaves each of us with the love he so generously gave.
We will be celebrating his life in February and will be posting the information when it becomes available.
In lieu of flowers Rich would prefer donations to Tunnels to Towers, his favorite charity.
