Richard Frederick Ochs died on March 8, 2022. He was two days short of his 63rd birthday. He was born in Princeton, NJ, and moved to Lancaster, PA, when he was five years old. He attended James Buchanan Elementary, Wheatland Junior High and Wolfson Senior High School.
He attended Susquehanna University and graduated from Emerson College in Boston, MA, with a degree in Sales.
Richard worked in various jobs, including sales, deliveries and ultimately working for over 15 years as a Senior Customer Service and Sales Specialist II at Bank of America. He was very proud of the work he did there and received several commendations.
Richard’s greatest passions in life included his love of Groucho Marx, rock and roll music, especially John Lennon, the Beatles and Buddy Holly, singing karaoke, playing drums and guitar, taking care of his cats, physical fitness, studying and making investments, and especially his numerous good friends. He had a wonderful, if sometimes quirky, sense of humor, and loved arguing and debating many topics. He had an amazing memory, especially for names and dates, and stayed in touch with many of his junior and high school friends. Last but certainly not least, Rich enjoyed a lifetime hobby of Amateur Radio as an Extra Class operator with the call sign of WA3UNS.
Richard leaves behind his older brother, Michael (Sheryl) Ochs, and older sister, Beth (Mark) Shorstein, his nieces, nephews and great-nephews, as well as many dear friends.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Dr. Stefan and Kris Ochs, to whom he was utterly devoted and spent much of his time visiting and supporting.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to The Jacksonville Humane Society. The family will be having a private memorial service.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.hgmandarin.com for the Ochs family.
