

Robert Neal Alexander, 91, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2025, after a multi-year battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Born on May 25, 1933, in Austin, Texas, Neal was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend.
Neal served in the US Air Force during the Korean War where he was a radio operator interpreting Morse code in Alaska. He graduated from the University of Alabama with a degree in Business and spent over 40 years in the insurance industry selling workers compensation and liability insurance.
Neal was always active and very involved with his children and grandchildren’s activities. He rarely missed a ball game or academic event in the lives of his children or grandchildren. He enjoyed playing tennis in his earlier years and always had a love for fishing. Every Saturday you would find in watching college football and cheering on his favorite team Alabama. “Roll Tide!” He was such a huge fan that he was referred to as “Bear” by his grandchildren in admiration of Bear Bryant. He was a man of honor, integrity, thriftiness and respect. He was truly a “caretaker” and always worried about making sure everyone got home safely. He was a member at Fruit Cove Baptist Church.
Neal is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Carol; his children, Cheryl (Tim) Stippler and Tracy Sanders (Robert Maraffi); his grandchildren Vincent Stippler, Kayleigh (Cole) Shaver, Kory (Hannah) Sanders, Sydney Stippler; his great grandchildren Carolina and Casen. He is also survived by his brother, Lynn Alexander. Neal was preceded in death by his parents, Ida Marie and Garland Lawson Alexander, his brother, Darrell and sister Virginia.
A visitation for Neal and family will be held Friday, February 7, 2025, from 12:00PM to 1:00 PM at Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Legacy Lodge, 4801 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, Fl 32207 with a funeral service at 1:00 PM.
A committal service will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org ) in Neal’s memory.
