

Robert (Bob) Ervin Byrd, 83, went home to be with the Lord on December 17, 2011. He was born in Elizabethtown, North Carolina to the late Ervin and Myra Mcree Byrd on August 7, 1928. He graduated from Kings Business School in Raleigh, NC. He worked for the Bank of Elizabethtown and Waccamaw Bank in NC prior to being drafted in the U.S. Army where he served in the Korean War as a staff sergeant. He moved to Jacksonville, FL after his military service and worked in management for the A&P plant and made Jacksonville his home. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend to all who knew him. He was outgoing and never met a stranger. He enjoyed participating in activities with the Moose and VFW, traveling, and watching Nascar and football. He is survived by his partner, Naomi Byrd, his daughter Tamara Byrd, sons Robert E. Byrd II (Bobby) and Timothy Byrd, brothers Harold (Pam) Byrd and Charles (Jewel) Byrd, sisters Agnes Stallings and Ruth Butler, grandsons Brandon Byrd and Joseph Johnson, granddaughters Alyssa Byrd and Jessica Johnson, great grandchildren Kara, Donovin, and Kaitlyn Byrd, special mention Larry Riley, and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his sister Miriam Woodell and stepsons Roby Johnson and Alan Johnson. A viewing will be held at 9am followed by a memorial service at 10 am at N.B. Ministries, 2503 Tebassa Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32216 with Rev. Buck Stanley. Interment will be held with military honors at Chapel Hill Memory Gardens, 850 St. Johns Bluff Rd. Jacksonville, FL 32225 following the funeral service.
