Robert Edward Falls

Robert Edward Falls, a lifelong resident of Jacksonville, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2014, at the age of 84. He was born November 28, 1929, in Jacksonville, Florida. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Nancy Falls. He is survived by three daughters; Robyn Ossi (Raymond), Jeannine Falls, and Bobbi Smith (Alan), and also three granddaughters Lauren, Brooke and Elizabeth Ossi. Also surviving are Richard and Betty Lassiter (brother/sister-in-law) and their children: Laura Jean Giese (Terry), Rick Lassiter (Michelle) and Tom Lassiter (Shannon). Robert attended Landon High School and graduated with the class of 1947. Robert was veteran of the U.S. Navy. His career included employment with General Electric and then as General Manager of GangNail Truss Company for many years. He was later self-employed as a contractor prior to his retirement. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church for over 45 years. Most recently, he was an active member and Elder at Lakewood Presbyterian Church where he served in many capacities – one of his favorites being on the Building and Grounds Committee where he served as co-chairman. He was involved in the community through service to Meals-on-Wheels as well as a member of Civitan, serving as president from 2002-2003. Robert lived life to the fullest with faith in God, a priority to family and optimism. He always put others before himself and treasured the friendships he created in his lifetime. The family extends their heartfelt appreciation and thanks to Dr. Joseph T. Stepp and Dr. Russell B. Stapleton for their loving care and commitment to him as physicians and friends for many years. A memorial service will be held at Lakewood Presbyterian Church, 2001 University Boulevard West on Friday, January 31, 2014 at eleven o’clock in the morning with Reverend Terence A. Lucarelli officiating. Memorials are preferred to Lakewood Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund, 2001 University Boulevard West, Jacksonville, Fl., 32217.
