Robert L. Maige, Jr., 60, passed away May 6, 2018 after heart surgery with his wife and daughter at his side. He was born in Jacksonville, FL on September 19, 1957 to Robert L. and Edna Hudson Maige. He graduated from Ed White High School in 1975. He received his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Auburn University in 1978 and his Master of Science in Accounting in 1979 from the University of Florida. He was a practicing accountant for 38 years. He served on the boards of various organizations including two terms as Chair of Community Hospice, H. Warner Webb Center for Independent Living, Multiple Sclerosis Society of North Florida and the local chapter of the National Kidney Foundation.
He was predeceased by his parents and brother-in-law, Owen K. Wingate. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Anne Marie L. Maige, daughter Catherine, sister Judy Wingate, mother-in-law Betty Jean Lewis, sisters-in-law Terrie Wightman, Mary Helen Sullivan (Keith), Christine Johnson (Joey) and brothers-in-law Richard Lewis (Lorie) and Michael Lewis (Keith); nieces Lauren (Blake), Jen, Jordan (Charles), McKay, Hunter; nephews Hart and Hayden, and many cousins. We were honored and privileged Robert was a part of our lives. !! War Eagle!!
Visitation will be held Monday, May 14th, from 6-8 P.M., Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Chapel. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 15th 11 A.M., San Jose Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to North Florida School of Special Education or to the charity of your choice.
