

Robert J. “Bob” McClure, Jr., age 94, passed away on October 30, 2010 in Jacksonville, FL. He was born on Sept. 21, 1916 in Birmingham, Alabama to the late Robert J. McClure Sr. and Edith Burke McClure.
He graduated from Auburn University in 1939, was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity, and was one of the founding members of the Auburn tennis team. He was the first #1 tennis player on Auburn’s very first team and was inducted into the Auburn "Golden Eagles" in 1989. Bob also
enjoyed playing tennis and golf well into his late eighties.
He was an executive at IDS/AMEX, and was also involved in many successful business ventures in Birmingham, AL. He served in the armed forces from 1939 to 1946, spending time in Japan during World War II and retired as a Major.
Bob is survived by his 2 sons, Robert J. McClure III, Lewis B. McClure; daughter, Terry M. Morrison; grandchildren, Robert J. McClure IV, Blake Bridges, Samuel W. and Charles S. McClure and one great grandson Julian A. McClure.
