Robert Nelson Mossbrooks

Robert Nelson Mossbrooks, 89, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2025. Born in Wildwood, New Jersey, growing up in Cape May Court House, he later made his home in Jacksonville, Florida, where he spent many meaningful years surrounded by family, friends, and his church community.

Robert was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elizabeth Mossbrooks. He is survived by his children, Terri Mossbrooks and Steven Mossbrooks; and his treasured grandchildren, Elizabeth Murphy, Brianna Mossbrooks, and Steven Chandler Mossbrooks. His family meant everything to him, and he carried an unwavering pride and love for each of them.

A dedicated and hardworking man, Robert owned and operated Mossbrooks Firestone for many years before retiring to Florida in 1997. Even in retirement, he enjoyed staying active and worked part-time cutting fruit at Publix, where he was known for his friendly personality and strong work ethic.

Robert proudly served in the National Guard and was honorably discharged in 1962. To the surprise and delight of his family, he excelled as a sharpshooter and served as a cook during his time in the service.

He enjoyed a full and vibrant life, especially when it came to sports and fellowship. He was an avid football fan, cheering passionately for the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Philadelphia Eagles. Robert loved playing golf with his close friends Ron and Harold, sharing laughs and companionship on the course. His faith was a cornerstone of his life—he served faithfully as an usher at First Baptist Church Jacksonville and looked forward to weekly Thursday visitations with his Sunday School group.

Robert will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his sense of humor, and his steadfast devotion to his family and faith. His presence will be deeply missed, but the legacy of his love and character will continue in the lives of all who knew him.

A graveside service will be held on January 3rd, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Oaklawn Chapel & Cemetery, located at 4801 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32207.
