AVIS DE DÉCÈS

Robert Miller Sharp

3 juin 1944 – 1 août 2018
AUX SOINS DE

Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Chapel & Oaklawn Cemetery

Robert Miller Sharp, 74, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 1, 2018.

Robert, known warmly as "Bob" to family, friends, and colleagues, was born on June 3, 1944, in Jacksonville, Florida to Sadie Miller Sharp and James Robert Sharp.

Bob graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1962, and then attended the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and the University of Florida. Upon graduation from UF in 1966, Bob served in the United States Army as a First Lieutenant in Washington, D.C.. Bob then returned to Florida, graduated from the University of Florida School of Law, and pursued a career as an attorney, and practiced law in Florida for over 30 years. Bob was a member of Riverside Presbyterian Church, the Florida Bar Association, and served on the boards of The Mental Health Association and Sanctuary on 8th Street.

Whether in professional practice or his personal sphere, Bob did not retreat from a known need. Where Bob was able to help others, he did so generously and often anonymously. Where Bob saw a need for advocacy and support, he zealously gave both. Where Bob recognized a slight he could remedy, he made it his mission to do so. These choices to make a difference in the lives of others are part of the legacy he leaves his family, friends, and countless others.

Robert is survived by his loving wife of over 30 years, Susan Beckley Sharp; son, Michael Cameron Sharp (Sarah); step-son, John Brabenec; step-daughter, Susan Brabenec-Page (Derek); grandchildren, Anne Tucker Sharp, Cameron Sharp, Gwyneth Page, and Griffin Page; and sister, Jane Condon.

Funeral services will be held Monday, August 6, 2018, at 11:00 at Hardage-Giddens, the Oaklawn Chapel. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, whose mission of caring for children stirred Bob's heart into action.
