

MAXWELL, RUTH PEELER, 80, passed away Friday evening, January 27, 2012 with her family by her side. She lived a full and blessed life and will be dearly missed by her loved ones and friends. Family gatherings will never be the same without her sense of humor and stories but lasting memories will always be comforting. Ruth loved her home in Riverside and its community atmosphere created by the people, shops and activities.
Ruth was a native Floridian and lifelong resident of Jacksonville. She is a descendent of Corporal Michael Peeler, American Revolutionary War. Ruth graduated from Andrew Jackson High School and Florida State College for Women. She was a registered nurse and received her training at the old St. Luke’s Hospital. Ruth began her career by working with the well known Doctor O. E. Harrell until his retirement. Her second job from which she retired was with the Florida Department of Health in Jacksonville.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Reverend W. Fletcher Peeler and Alice Peeler. She is survived by her beloved twin brother Charles B. Peeler and sister Marion P. Bessent; four nephews: Michael (Page) Peeler, Chuck (Ann) Peeler, Tommy (Rose) Bright and Stephen (Teresa) Bright; 3 great nieces; 5 great nephews; and dear friend Judy Knight.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 1st at 11:00 am at Inman Memorial United Methodist Church located 5344 Old Kings Rd. Jacksonville, Fl. 32254 with Reverend Cleon Spencer officiating. Internment immediately following at Edgewood Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the services.
