Ruth M. Stewart was born on July 18, 1928 in Miami, FL. The daughter of John Claude and Carrie Williams, Ruth was known to her friends and family as “Kitty”, and as a child lived near Sanderson, FL. She was the oldest daughter of nine children (3 boys and 6 girls). Her family moved to Jacksonville, FL where Ruth attended Andrew Jackson High School. There she met and married Donald L. McCormack and worked as a dedicated employee at General Motors for 30 years. Ruth and Don had one son, Donald L. McCormack II. She is survived by her son, Donald McCormack; siblings, John Claude, Ernestine, Priscilla and Lucy; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
After her first husband Don passed away she married her second husband, John Stewart. John and Ruth worked together to build a successful forklift and material handling business in Jacksonville. They celebrated life with many memorable events and outings and were active participants in the Shriners. Throughout all of her years, Ruth was a loving mother, devoted wife, and sister who was always there to provide help and support for all who knew her. She loved holidays, family gatherings, and special events which her family and friends will always remember as some of their most memorable times. We will always cherish her memory and give thanks for the joy she brought to every occasion and the love and caring she provided to all of us who were blessed to be a part of her life.
