Ruth Elizabeth Rowling Turner

Ruth was born in Waycross, Georgia on March 2, 1924 and graduated from Waycross Senior High School in 1941. Ruth was married to Thomas R. Turner on October 11, 1941. They were married 43 years until his death in 1984.

Ruth worked briefly at Kresses Department Store, Morrison’s Cafeteria and after marriage was a housewife and a wonderful mother. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, knitting and crocheting. She was also actively involved in AARP.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas R. Turner.

Surviving are two sisters, Catherine Green and Mary Alice Rowling, six children, Tom R. Turner Jr., Ruth Elaine Smith, Donna Wanell Holt, Kevin Dean Turner, Marcia Ann Phillips and Susan Gayle Turner, 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and other family and friends.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Monday, March 11th from 6 – 8 pm at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 4115 Hendricks Ave., Jacksonville, FL 32207. The funeral service will be Tuesday, March 12, at 2:00 pm at the funeral home with Chaplain Brent Beaird of Community Hospice officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, 4300 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32207.
