Sam Ashmore, 72, passed away on September 19, 2016 at Baptist Heart Hospital in Jacksonville, FL. Sam was born in Paragould, Arkansas on March 4, 1944 to Samuel and Nettie Ashmore. He attended Greene County Tech High School and later obtained his Bachelor’s Degree at Memphis State University. Sam retired from Blue Cross Blue Shield and later worked as a Ranger at St. John’s Country Club and Golf Course. Sam was passionate about family, baseball, golf, horse racing, and fishing. Surviving family members include his wife, Landa Ashmore, sister, Sandra Weaver; daughter Cindy Knowlton and her family, Steven Knowlton, William Knowlton and Katherine Knowlton; daughter, Sherry Smith and her family, Andy Smith and Harrison Smith. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, September 25 in Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin.
