Sarah A. Cote

Sarah Ann Cote, age 83, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 5, 2011. She was born November 23, 1927 in Reidsville, North Carolina to Jesse Wharton Williams and Lucy Whitsett Williams. She was preceded in death by her husband of 19 years, Norman D. Cote, two sisters, Lucy Allen and Lillian Myatt, and one nephew, Ralph G. Wright (Marti). She is survived by two dear sisters, Dolly Kemp Wright (Jacksonville, FL) and Jessie Kelley (Lexington, KY), nephews Jess W. Wright (Sheri), Jim Allen (Maria), John Allen (Pat), Mac Allen (Sandra), Travis Myatt ( Ellen), nieces Sarah Kelley and Connie Sims (Lewis), two adored great-nephews, Andrew Wright and Alex Wright, and other relatives and friends. Sarah Ann graduated from UNC-Greensboro with a bachelor's degree. She later attained her Master's Degree in Library Science from Florida State University and has been a dedicated and avid fan of her much-loved Seminoles. She taught elementary school at Forest Hills in Duval County for 30 years. Upon her retirement, she volunteered the next 19 years of her life as the librarian at Holy Rosary Catholic School. Her love for children and education endeared herself to many and her unselfish and passionate spirit will be sorely missed by all. The family will receive visitors from 1pm-2pm on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at Hardage -Giddens Funeral Home Main Street Chapel. Funeral Services will be held at Hardage-Giddens on Main Street on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Sarah Ann's honor to the Alzheimer's Association Central and North Florida chapter.
