Scott Edward MacKay

5 septembre 19635 avril 2021

Scott Edward Mackay was born on September 5, 1963 in Miami, Florida and entered into heavenly life on April 5, 2021. He was raised in Indiana and California.

Scott served in the U.S. Army in the 82nd Airborne Division as a paratrooper. He served two tours of duty including Desert Shield/Desert Storm and Grenada. Following his time in the military, he worked in a variety of occupations, the most recent being as a code enforcement officer with the city of Jacksonville, Florida. Scott had a kind, warm, and playful personality, and was loved by many. He was nicknamed “The Mayor” by a close friend because he shook the hand of everyone he met. Scott never met a stranger. Alongside his wife, he served as a church greeter at Deermeadows Baptist Church. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, going to the movies, participating in church activities, and woodworking. Scott loved his pets too.

He is survived by his wife Angie, son Sean, and sister Janet. We will all miss him dearly.

Scott's memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, April 16, 2021 at Deermeadows Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Jacksonville National Cemetery at 1:30pm.

Arrangements by Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin, 11801 San Jose Blvd., Jacksonville, FL (904) 288-0025.

“Life with God is not immunity from difficulties, but peace in those difficulties.” Peace and love for your family and friends as they struggle through this difficult time. I admit my heart is broken and the words are still hard.... rest now until we meet again. Love and miss you brother.

Scott was a gentle giant and always pleasant and he was this way from the very first day I met him at Winn Dixie. I will forever remember Scott and how he treated me and how much he loved everyone. A stranger was never considered a stranger around Scott. MAY YOU REST FROM YOUR LABOR and SLEEP IN PEACE WITH THE MASTER OF CREATION FOREVER.

You will forever be missed Scottie!!!!!

Scotty was awesome. Angie - you and he really touched my heart when you came out to support my battle with breast cancer. Kevyn always had good things to say about Scotty and they often laughed together. God certainly gained an awesome angel. I know he touched many lives and also know how much he already is missed and will be missed. Our prayers are with you through this awful time.

When we first visited Deermeadows Baptist Church, Scotty was the first person to greet us. We were so amazed by his friendliness and welcoming spirit that we came back the next Sunday. The response from Scotty was the same.
We loved his big smile and how he made everyone feel welcomed.
Praying for Angie and family during this time!
