

Sharon married Samuel E. Burnette in Frankfurt, Germany on the U.S. Army Base. She graduated with a degree in Education from Carson-Newman University. She taught 5th grade with Duval County until joining Governor Jeb Bush as Florida Teacher in residence for 6 years, then returned to the classroom until retirement. She had a passion for charitable causes, lived her life with gusto, and lived it well.
She is survived by her three sons, Douglas Burnette, Glenn Burnette, and Kelly Burnette; two brothers, Kenneth and Jim Kennedy; three granddaughters, Corinne Burnette, Sophia Burnette, and Abigail Burnette; and many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Samuel E. Burnette; sister, Maureen Chambers; and niece, Shelby Kennedy.

Family will receive friends at Hardage-Giddens Mandarin Chapel, 11801 San Jose Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32223, on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, from 5pm until 7pm. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, February 19. 2025 at 10am at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Mandarin Cemetery.
