Sherry was a beloved wife of 61 years to John; mother to Kelly (Bill), Chris (Mary), and Andrew (Michelle); Nana to Abby and Harris Hamilton, Eli and Avery Williamson, and Max and Elise Hamilton; sister to Mike Isbell (Wendy) and Susan Martin (Dan); aunt, great aunt and great-great aunt to Tracy, Laura, Joanna, Libby, Alissa, Tiffany, Sarah, Ella, Cody, Lillie, Bailey, Jackson, Levi, Palmer, Dylan, Brady, Chase, Mira, Sophie, Mabel Grace, Ivy, Eleanor, and Knox.
When Sherry was ten years old, she and her family moved to Jacksonville where she attended Norwood Elementary, Englewood Junior High, and then graduated from Englewood High School in 1964. Sherry met John at the neighborhood bus stop in 1960. Sherry and John married in 1964 in Jacksonville, FL and served in multiple locations for the Navy until John’s retirement in 1996. Sherry was a homemaker, gardener, and co-owner of Hamilton Press in Fernandina Beach for 18 years before retiring to Lilly Lake in Melrose, Fl where they created a beautiful home and lakeside retreat for 16 years. Sherry attended Terry Parker Baptist Church, Trinity Baptist Church, and was a founding member of Amelia Baptist Church where she faithfully served in many roles while expressing her deep love of God and belief in Jesus Christ. Sherry’s greatest joy and pride was found in the life and family she and John built together over 65 years, and most importantly her beloved grandchildren Abby Hamilton (University of Florida alumni/Brenau University), Harris Hamilton (University of Florida), Eli Williamson (University of Alaska), Avery Williamson (University of Alaska), Max and Elise Hamilton (preschool). Sherry was a generous and wonderful hostess, often opening her home and lakeside to many friends and family over the years. Her laughter could be heard across the loudest of rooms and will be sorely missed.
Sherry was predeceased by her father Buck Isbell, mother Margie Isbell, and son-in-law Scott Hernandez. Sherry is survived by her husband of 61 years, John Hamilton (Jacksonville, FL), her daughter Kelly Williamson (Jacksonville, FL), son Chris Hamilton (Fernandina Beach, FL) and son Andrew Hamilton (Chicago, IL).
A private family service at Jacksonville National Cemetery will be held 3/4/2025. A Celebration of Life fellowship will be held in April/May 2025 for extended family and friends. In lieu of flowers please make donations in Sherry’s name to Set Free By The Sea (a ministry to share Jesus with people distressed through life’s crises: drug addiction, alcoholism, homelessness, or a lack of self-discipline and purpose in life) at 850582 US Highway 17 S, Yulee, Fl 32097.
