She was such a lovely women and so much fun.  She was a very good friend of my mother, Margaret Barber.  Their friendship stood the test of distance and time.   Upon my own mother's passing, I learned of Shirley's.   I was blessed to have known her.

It appears yours was a life well lived.  Your presence will surely be missed by those close to you.

My dear friend Shirley will surely be missed but not forgotten. i  will cherish the memories of her kindness  and caring manner as we would trade life opportunities and advice. We have stayed in touch but it has been a year or so since Shirley reached out to me here in Virginia I can truly say an angel has gone home. Les thank you for sharing.

Ms. Shirley was like a mother to me. She told me the right things at the time all the time.I will truly miss her calling me from time to time about the new things that was happening in her life. The good and the bad. At the same time she is telling motherly things. I would be washing her car,fixing some light fixture,cutting some tree branch,or anything she wanted. One of Jacksonville's greatest ladies will be missed. We will always love you from the Miller family.

We wee saddened to hear of Shirley's accident and passing.  She was such a lovely person.  Shirley gave us good advice when we moved across from her.  We miss seeing her and her pets.  Rest in peace.  Bob and Lynda Parker and Sadie too!!

I worked with Shirley at Jacobson's. I was her personal seamstress. God Bless you, I will always miss you.

I met Shirley at Jacobson's and we became instant friends, with a few bumps along the way. She was very opinionated and so was I, but our friendship remained in tact. She could make me laugh when I was at my lowest and she said I did the same for her.  To me that is what true friendship is all about.
 A friend is someone we turn to when our spirits need a lift; A friend is someone we treasure for our friendship is a gift; A friend is someone who fills our lives with beauty, joy and grace, and makes the whole world we live in a better and happier place.  My dear friend Shirley, this is what you did for me and I will miss you terribly and one day we shall laugh together again in heaven. You were a beautiful person, inside and out and I love you my dear friend.

Shirley: A most beautiful, sweet, caring, gracious, classy lady, with the most captivating and contagious smile imaginable. Enjoyed working with her the many years at Furchgotts, and Jacobsons.
We shared many a laugh, a cry, good times, and bad times, but always with special feelings of friendship and love.  She will be sorely missed by all who knew her, but she definitely will never be forgotten.

Those of us from Jacobson's, both Associates and customers, shared a very special bond with Shirley. She stole our hearts as she wrapped us all around her fingers. She was beautiful both inside and out and shared that beauty with each of us through her joy, laughter and love. We will miss her but we are so grateful for the wonderful memories which will remain in our hearts, always.

We were so sad to hear about Shirley's passing.  We had not seen her in many years but she is a special person to our family.  My girls will always remember her as a big part of their lives when they were little.  She would sit and read stories to them and they would laugh and laugh.  We used to make her "dress down" for Christmas morning and to her that was still so much nicer than what we had in mind.  Ryan was talking about how she use to love to play with Shirley's jewelry. We still have many cherished items that she would give us from Jacobson's because she loved to spoil us with gifts everytime she would come over. I am so sorry to hear how she had to suffer but heaven has gained a wonderful angel.

I was saddened to learn of the passing of my friend, Shirley Oliver.  She was a beautigul person inside and out.  I met Shirley while shopping at Jacobson's on Baymeadows Rd. and Southside Blvd.  She was so gracious as she introduced me to Donna Karen panty hose (smile).  She made all of her customers feel valued regardless of whether they made a purchase.  After she retired, we kept in touch by phone.  Shirley demonstrated to me that she loved the Lord.  I am glad that I had a chance to visit her in the hospital.  I had hoped that she would make a full recovery; but God knew best.  Her family has been in my prayers (along with Shirley) and I am praying that they will be comforted at this sad time.
