Steve graduated from Alford I Dupont in Jacksonville, FL. He was employed by Southern Bell for 30 years. He was in the Coast Guard Reserves. He was an avid Fisherman, Hunter and loved riding around in either his truck or boat. He enjoyed going to the community ball park and watching pick up softball games with family and friends.
Steve was predeceased by his Mother and Father Alice Grosser Chavez and George Adam Chavez, his older sister Shirley Chavez Braasch and his nephew Ronald Stevern Braasch.
He is survived by his younger sister Judith N. Chavez, his daughter Laura D. Chavez, His son George A. Chavez (Carlene Chavez), grandkids Holly Chavez Brown (Chris Brown), great grandchild Carson Chavez, Kristi N. Chavez, Brandy Staton, (Makayla and Ashlyn), Gene Staton (Kristina Staton, Connor and Caleb) Multiple nieces and nephews.
