

With hearts full of love, we share the news that Thomas S. Corey Jr, 90 years old, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, has peacefully passed away on July 7, 2020, due to heart and lymphoma complications.
Tom’s amazing life began on January 6, 1930, to parents Tom and Jenny Rodd Corey in Jacksonville, Florida. He attended local schools and graduated from Andrew Jackson Senior High School in 1948.
He proudly served in the Florida National Guard from June 16, 1948 until June 15, 1956, where he earned distinction as a sharp shooter.
Tom had a fulfilling career with the City, retiring in 1980 from the Jacksonville Electric Authority as Director of Customer Service. In addition, for 50 years, he worked with the annual Greater Jacksonville Fair.
He was a lifelong member of St. John’s Episcopal Cathedral and the Salaam Club of Florida where he served as President, Treasurer, Secretary, Bulletin Editor, Board of Directors and Club Manager.
Tom was a Past Worshipful Master of Temple Masonic Lodge 23, achieving 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason. He was a member of Morocco Shrine Temple, serving as a member of the Oriental Band uniformed unit.
Tom’s greatest passion was his family followed closely by great cooking and playing poker.
Tom was predeceased by his parents, brothers Edward and George and sisters Mary Ann and Helen.
He is survived by his lovely wife of 68 years, Lorraine Lewis Corey, daughters Susan, Angela, Cathy and Marlo, son Tom III and daughter-in-“love” Tammie, his beloved grandchildren and adored great-grandchildren, sister Betty Yarborough, brother Jody (Sally) and sister-in-laws Jackie Corey and Bonnie Lewis and many sweet nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank the amazing healthcare teams at Mayo and Community Hospice Beaches for their help and support.
A celebration of Tom’s life will be held at St. John’s Cathedral at a later date.
Interment in the Dean’s Garden will be a private service.
The family requests that In lieu of flowers, memorials be made to The Cathedral School, 330 N. Market Street, Jacksonville, FL 32202.
The outpouring of love and support from family, friends and community has deeply touched the family.
