

Thomas (Tom/Pops) Davis Runck: Passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on March 14, 2017. Born September 11, 1923 in Paris, KY. He lived in Cincinnati, OH until 1932 when he and his mother, Alice Pohlman Runck moved to Ft. Lauderdale, FL. He attended Sewanne Military Academy. He enlisted in the US Navy during WWll and spent 4 years as a Corpsman attached to the U.S. Marine Corp. He was awarded a Bronze Star. After serving his country, he returned to Ft. Lauderdale and married his childhood sweetheart, Virginia Smith Robinson. He had a successful career selling office supplies and furniture as V. President of Business Equipment Co. In 1975, he and his wife, Virginia moved to Franklin, NC, where they lived together “up on the mountain” for 35 years. Due to health issues, they moved to Jacksonville, FL. to reunite with family. They moved to Taylor Manor, a retirement community in 2011. In January, they celebrated 70 years of marriage. He was preceded in death by great-grandson, Donovan Thomas Redding, and is survived by his wife, Virginia, son Thomas Jr. (wife Marilyn), daughters Charlene Warren (husband Richard), Debera Killam (husband Gary), 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 1:00pm to 3:00pm on Sunday, March 19, 2017 in Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin. The Funeral Service will be held at 3:00pm with Don Miller as Officiant. The Committal Service will be held at 1:00pm on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 in Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32218.
