

Thomas Jackson Sadler, Jr., passed away peacefully in his sleep, Sunday, February 22, 2015 due to natural causes. Tom, or “Tommy” to many was born October 4, 1936 in Jacksonville, FL. He attended Lackawanna Elementary School, John Gorrie Junior High, and graduated from Lee High School in 1954. In that same year he joined the Air National Guard achieving the rank of Major; remaining in the reserves until the late 70’s. After attended Jacksonville Junior College he went on to graduate from UF in 1958; earning his accounting degree, leading into his career as a CPA. Soon after graduation he married his life-long love, Llewellyn Noel. Following a period of time in private business, he held positions for companies, such as Christian Packaging/Ginter Box Co. and Benner Glassware. He later returned to private accounting, retiring in 2007 from Swindell, Bohn, Durden & Phillips.
Tom was an avid fisherman, enjoyed boating, and even had his private pilot’s license. The annual “Fish Hunt” with a special group of high school buddies often resulted in a catch with at least one meal to enjoy with his family. Aside from work and weekend adventures, Tom was very active in his church. His leadership roles began with San Jose Church of Christ, moving on to Mandarin Christian, now Christ’s Church, for over 40 years of service in missions, offerings, deaconship, serving on a variety of committees and on occasion stepping in to lead the lesson.
Tom is survived by children, Victoria Sadler (Cary), James Sadler, Elizabeth Berg (Dennis), and Margaret MacManus (Gary). He is preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Llewellyn Noel; daughter, Mary Spell; and parents, TJ Sadler, Sr. and Lucille Pippin Sadler. He lives on in his 7 grandchildren, Emily Spell, Katherine Berg, Carol Berg, Adam MacManus, Claira Berg, Karina Sadler-Sfikas, and Marshall Sadler; and 2 great-grandchildren, Garrett and Aubrey Blanchette.
A viewing will be held Friday, February 27, 2015 from 4-7pm at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin. Services will be held at the funeral home the following morning at 10am with light refreshments to follow. All those who wish may join the family in laying him to rest at Oaklawn Cemetery, 4801 San Jose Blvd.
