Viola Dorothy Chatelaine

Viola Dorothy (Chatelaine) Peavey, 91, passed away on September 11, 2013 at Consulate Healthcare of Orange Park, Florida. She was born in New Orleans, Louisiana , on June 28, 1922 to Alice (Mayeaux) Chatelaine and Issac Chatelaine. She graduated from Cabrini Orphanage (now Cabrini High School) New Orleans, Louisiana. She relocated to Lakeland, Florida in 1983 from Adrian, Michigan. In Adrian, she attended St Mary’s Catholic Church. Viola was a very giving person whether her time or treasure, she loved to help others. Viola’s favorite hobbies were landscaping and gardening, plus she had a great love for music. She was active in church organizations for many years. Viola was a stay at home mom yet held various jobs over the years.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edgar Lee Peavey. She is survived by sons, Michael J. Peavey, Lakeland, FL; Martin J. Peavey, CA; and Malcolm J. Peavey, Jacksonville, FL; daughters, Gloria A. Peavey, Jacksonville, FL; Linda L. Peavey, Arizona; Rose M. Gamm, Florida; Kathleen J. Peavey, Michigan; grandchildren: Michelle (Peavey) Strayer, Melissa B. Peavey; Eric Peavey; Paul A. Zindrick, Juli C.Johnson, Nicholas R. Gamm; Michael E. Peavey, Emanuel M. Parker; Robert Peavey; Carolyn M. (Peavey) Porter; great-grandchildren: Justin Strayer ,Lindsey Strayer; Cailey Porter, Cole Porter; and 3 Parker great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 5-7pm on Sunday, September 15 in Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Lenawee Hills Memorial Park in Adrian, Michigan.
