

Wilmington, NC, she lived there until 1960, when the family was transferred to Jacksonville with the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad. She graduated from New Hanover High School, Wilmington, in 1944; St. Joseph’s College, 1948, Emmitsburg, MD; and the University of North Carolina School of Law, 1953, Chapel Hill. Virginia practiced law in Wilmington from 1953 to 1960. She resumed her full-time legal career in 1965, working in Jacksonville as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Middle District of Florida until November 1968, when she joined the law firm of Milam, Martin & Ade. She was appointed by Gov. Ruebin Askew to serve as a Circuit Court Judge of the Fourth Judicial Circuit on December 30, 1976, and served in that capacity until her retirement in December 1996. She continued to serve as a Senior Circuit Court Judge until September 2004. She was predeceased by her husband of 46 years, Phil C. Beverly, in 2001; her parents, Dan and Laura N. Quinlivan; and sister, Marie Q. Aucremanne. Survivors include her children Phil C. Beverly, Jr. (Judy) of Gainesville, FL; Laura N. Beverly, of Jacksonville; Thomas M. Beverly (Katherine) of Jacksonville; and J. Fred Beverly (Sherry) of Ashburn, VA; and grandchildren, Laura, Jack and Will (Jacksonville); Cassidy and Ryan (Gainesville); and Elizabeth and Daniel (Ashburn). In addition, she is survived by her special cousin, Betty Powell of Jacksonville; brother-in-law Joseph F. Aucremanne of Bridgeport, WV; and several nieces and nephews. The Rosary will be recited Monday, August 23, at 7:00 p.m. at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home (4115 Hendricks Ave.), with celebration of the Funeral Mass on Tuesday, August 24, at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church (9800 Baymeadows Road) followed by burial at Oaklawn Cemetery.
