Walter B. Sloan,

SLOAN, Walter B. Sloan, Jr., 78, went home to be with the Lord and his “Baby Doll” Tuesday, May 28, 2013. The family wants all to know that their dad lived his life for Christ. Mr. Sloan, a Jacksonville native, has lived in Hoboken, GA since moving from Jacksonville seven years ago. He was a member of Hoboken Baptist Church and former long time member of Gardenview Baptist Church in Jacksonville. He also served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp, was a member of the Gideon’s International for many years and was retired from AT&T. Mr. Sloan was predeceased by his wife and “Baby Doll”, Sharon M. Sloan in 2011. Survivors include his children: Jody (Lori) Sloan), Johnny (Vickie) Sloan, Valerie (Randy) Dowling, Cindy (Randal) Kincade and Walter (Misty) Sloan, III; 1 sister, Linda (Larry) Joiner; 1 brother, Robert Sloan; brother-in-law, Wayne (Dianne) McLain; 19 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, June 4, at Gardenview Baptist Church with Rev. Ron Thompson and Rev. Bill Kincade officiating. Interment will follow at Jacksonville National Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends one (1) hour prior to the service, at the church. In addition, a Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, June 2, at Hoboken Baptist Church, Hoboken, GA.
