

William "Bill" Kaiser passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, May 13, 2011, after a long and courageous battle with cancer, which he fought without complaint.He is survived by his loving family- wife, Helene (Shaw) Kaiser; children, Kathy, Greg (Marda), Glen, Rick (Ruth), Joe and Tim; grandchildren, Daryl (Jamie), Grant, Brooke (O'Neil), Lauren and Todd; great granddaughter, Jayda, and numerous nieces and nephews.Bill was born to William and Florence (Wagner) Kaiser on May 13, 1923, in Alpena, Michigan. With nine siblings on the scene, his life was never dull, yet still he wished for some excitement and challenge. He would soon get his wish.World War II broke out, and Bill joined the Navy. He left Michigan and entered the Sunshine State a short time later. His first duties were clerical but he was soon accepted to Flight Training School. In the interim he was married, and after completing a four year commitment in the Navy, received an honorable discharge and settled in Florida. He took a job working for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company where he remained for 38 years and then retired.Bill enjoyed traveling, which included cruises to the Caribbean and visits to western Europe, but he loved home most of all, where he had a wonderful and fulfilling life. He will be remembered for his kindness and willingness to lend a hand to anyone in need. It was often said "if Bill can't fix it, it can't be fixed!" He was a man of his word, always patient, and a joy to be around. Although Bill's journey on earth is over, he now rests in God's loving arms. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.Bill's family will receive friends, one hour prior to the Celebration of the Mass which will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, May 18th at San Jose Catholic Church, 3619 Toledo Road, in Jacksonville. Interment will follow the services in Oaklawn Cemetery.
