

Bill attended Stetson University College of Law graduating in 1948. He had an active law practice in Jacksonville until 1957 when he became a Circuit Judge with the Fourth Judicial Circuit.
After leaving the bench, he devoted much time to the community and religious activities. He was also a prolific author.
Surviving are his loving wife, Betsy, a daughter, Judith Ann Maness (Ron Williker), son, William Holt Maness Jr. (Debra), three adopted children, Debbie Sodek (Gary), Edward R. Maness, Richard Maness, five grandchildren, two great grandchildren and many dear friends.
The family will receive friends on Friday, October 21, from 6 – 8 pm at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 4115 Hendricks Ave., Jacksonville, FL. A committal service with Military Honors will be Saturday, October 22 at 11:00 am at Oaklawn Cemetery, 4801 San Jose Blvd., Jacksonville, FL, followed by a Celebration of His Life at 12:00 pm noon at First United Methodist Church, 225 East Duval St., Jacksonville, FL 32202.
Memorials in his name may be directed to Elon University or Community Hospice.
