
William “Bill” T. Page, Sr., age 84, longtime Jacksonville resident, went home to Jesus on Friday, March 6, 2009, following a brief illness in Douglas, Georgia. Bill was born Dec. 22, 1924, in Charlotte, NC, to the late Frank and Wilma Page and moved to Jacksonville in 1952. He was a WW II Army Veteran, serving in the Pacific theatre, and a member of VFW Post #7909. He belonged to Springfield Baptist Church where he served as Deacon. He was a lifetime blood donor, giving in excess of 5 gallons. He was a construction superintendent for several companies and a member of Local Carpenters’ Union #627. He has been a member of Moose Lodge #2134 since 1972, serving as Governor, Administrator, and District President, and was a Moose Fellow, Legionnaire, and Pilgrim. He and his wife were houseparents at Mooseheart, IL for 2-1/2 years. Bill was preceded in death by his son, Terry. He is survived by his wife of 61 yrs., Lucille; son, Tim; daughter and son-in-law, Davena and Bill Sawyer; daughter-in-law, Susan (Page) Witt; six grandchildren: D.J. Tompkins (Steven), Shannon and Nikki Bauer, Joseph Teston (Kathy), Casey Page, Teresa Smith (Jeremy); seven great-grandchildren; an aunt; and five brothers and sisters. Visitation will be from 6:00 - 8:00 PM, Wed., Mar. 11, at Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home; 1426 Rowe Ave.; Jacksonville. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Thurs. Mar. 12, at Corey-Kerlin, followed by interment service with military honors at 2:00 PM Thurs., March 12, at the Jacksonville National Cemetery; 4083 Lannie Road.
