

Byron Ronnie Cavenaugh, 70 of Maysville, NC, passed away at his home surrounded by family and loved ones Wednesday morning. Ronnie was in the Army, 82nd Airborne division, and in his spare time he enjoyed yardwork, gardening, and spending quality time with his family. He was outgoing and friendly, and was always willing to help someone in need.
Ronnie is preceded in death by his Father and Mother, Nick and Junie Cavenaugh, granddaughter Ruby Leigh Cavenaugh, brother Bart Cavenaugh, and sisters Dorothy Shively and Eloise Mathis.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jane Cavenaugh, sons Nicky (Lynett) Cavenaugh of Richlands, Dwayne (Joann) Cavenaugh of Goldsboro, and Jason (Robin) Cavenaugh of Beulaville, daughter Lana (Al) Alcorta of Clinton, brothers Billy (Barbara Lou) Cavenaugh of Jacksonville and Jimmy (Carrie Lee) Cavenaugh of Burgaw, sisters Velma Freer of Christiansburg, VA, Sarah (Ed) Russ of Beulaville, Ruth (Dean) Mabee of Jacksonville, Ann Thomas of Jacksonville, and Barbara (Russell) Chaucer of Jacksonville, Grandchildren Amanda Cavenaugh of Black Mtn., Melissa Jacobs of Maysville, Christina (Brian) Warren of Jacksonville, Leslie (Ryan) Rogers of Jacksonville, Rachel Pennington of Jacksonville, Faith Cavenaugh of Richlands, Austin Cavenaugh of Richlands, Kelly (Allen) Jones of Kenansville, Whitney Brown of Beulaville, Jennifer Alcorta of Clinton, and Veronica Alcorta of Clinton, Byron Cavenaugh, Greg Cavenaugh of Goldsboro, and four Great Grandchildren Jordyn Jacobs of Jacksonville, Ansley Hawthorne of Black Mtn., Bryson Hawthorne of Black Mtn., and Camden Warren of Jacksonville. Ronnie is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Ronnie will be held at Johnson Funeral Home of Jacksonville on Saturday at 1:00 PM, with a service to follow at 2:00 PM officiated by Edna Cavenaugh and Pete Lowery. Interment will be at Onslow Memorial Park following the service.
