Irene Walters Minix

Irene W. Minix, 83 of Jacksonville, NC, passed away Wednesday evening at her residence. Irene was an avid prayer warrior and enjoyed going to church and reading her bible. She also loved to shop, collect porcelain dolls, talk on the phone, cook, and do her crossword puzzles. She especially loved family vacationing at their timeshares and especially enjoyed and loved spending time with and taking care of her four boys.

Irene is preceded in death by her husband Homer Minix, her son Terry Lynn Minix, two brothers and three sisters.

She is survived by her four sons Jerry Joseph Minix, Daniel Ray Minix, Timothy Lynn Minix, and Philip H. Minix all of Jacksonville, brother Kenneth Walters of Jacksonville, sister Ella Craft of Jacksonville, 4 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

A visitation for Irene will be held on Monday at Johnson Funeral Home of Jacksonville from 7 – 9 PM, and again on Tuesday afternoon at United Pentacostal Church on Piney Green from 1-2 PM. A service will be held for Irene on Tuesday afternoon at United Pentacostal Church at 2 PM with Pastor Wallace officiating. Interment will be at Onslow Memorial Park following Tuesday’s service.
