

Verlyn was born in Port Edwards, WI on 10/22/24. He served for 30 years and fought in three major wars, WWII, The Korean War, and the Vietnam War and retired as a Chief Petty Officer in the US Navy. He lived in Portsmouth, VA for 30 years and spent much of his time volunteering and serving his community with the US Navy Hospital Pharmacy and the soup kitchen in Portsmouth, VA and volunteered for many PGA golf tournaments in the Tidewater area. He was also a long time member of the American Rose Society, Tidewater Rose Society, and the VFW.
Verlyn is preceded in death by his parents Irving J. and Helida Gagnier Rayome, brothers Reuben, Frank, and Ardin Rayome, and his sisters Ardean Rayome Kranszuschand and Dolores Rayome Bender .
He is survived by his wife Lola Sutton Rayome of the home, step daughters Danae Fiel Marotta, Deborah Fiel Donivan, Stephanie Fiel Larkin, Susan Fiel Teachout, and Linda Fiel Moody, 10 grandchildren and a great grandchild.
