
Albert Edward Cox, 86, of Nauvoo, entered into rest on July 26, 2017 at Ridgeview Health Services in Jasper. The family will receive friends Sunday, July 30, 2017, from 1 until 2 p.m. at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home, and services will follow at 2 p.m. Chris Pschirer will officiate. Burial will be at Carbon Hill Memorial Cemetery. Edward was born February 11, 1931, in Kansas, Ala. He was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather and great-grandfather. He was married to Getha Gwen Dunn Cox for 44 years and raised a son, Eddie, and daughter, Pat. Together, they enjoyed their two grandsons, Brennen Willingham and Terry Cox. They were a member of the Carbon Hill Church of Christ. He was a coal miner, furniture maker and jack of all trades. There was nothing he could not fix. He enjoyed life and making others happy. Always trying to do for those less fortunate. The family was devastated with the sudden death of their only son, Eddie. Then again by the death of his wife, Getha, losing her to cancer. He remarried Corene Fondren in 1998, and they had a happy loving relationship for 19 years. She brought love and happiness to our family once again, and with her she brought more love in the form of seven children. With this he was able to live a happy normal life for many years. Corene died and was buried just two days prior to Edward’s death. Edward was preceded in death by his first wife of 44 years, Getha Dunn Cox, and his second wife of 19 years, Corene Fondren Cox; his son, Eddie Cox; stepson, Rick Baccus; stepdaughter, Debra Martin; granddaughter, Brandy Willingham; parents, Atley Sr. and Minnie Cox; brother, Atley Cox Jr.; brother-in-law, Buddy Dunn (Francis); father and mother-in-law, Rex Dunn and Hattie Dunn Chapman. He is survived by his daughter, Patricia Willingham Ingle (Frank) of Nauvoo; daughter-in-law, Debbie Cox of Carbon Hill; grandsons, Brennen Willingham (Sallie) of Fort Thomas, Ky. and Terry Cox (Tonya) of Jasper; great-grandson, Barrett Lee Willingham; stepchildren, John Fondren (Theresa), Gary Fondren, Linda Ebert (Bradley), Vickey Baccus and Patricia Rabil (Robert); sisters-in-law, Ruth Ann Cox and Ann Kilgore (Daniel); brother-in-law, L.V. Dunn (JoAnn); and his extended family who played a big part in his life and care, granddaughter, Tiffany Jones (Kris); great-grandsons, Todd Ingle (Alison), Ty Jones and Austin Jones; great-granddaughters, Autumn and Bryn Ingle and Angel Jones; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
