

Family will receive family and friends at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home in Jasper on Thursday, Oct. 13, 2022, from 5 until 7 p.m. Church service will be at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Jasper at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 14, 2022, directed by Kilgore-Green Funeral Home, with burial at Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham.
Angie was born on Jan. 1, 1930, in Birmingham. She lived in Birmingham until 1972. In 1970 she traveled to Europe, bought a car, and drove to Italy and Sicily to meet relatives for the first time. It was a trip of a lifetime visiting five countries by herself. In 1972 she moved to Jasper and married Jerry Gossett where she opened her business, Angelina’s Gallery, in downtown Jasper. She and Jerry also organized the Jasper Elks Lodge in 1977. Jerry was a charter member and Angie a life member. She was the first Lady Exalted Ruler in the nation. Angie was also a life member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary #4850.
In 1971, she became a member of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church where she remained a member until this day. She will always be there in spirit. She also raised $35,000 to design and build a monument that stands in front of the Jasper Police Department. She loved special people and raised money for their yearly Christmas party. Angie was on the board of Tri-County and received numerous awards and recognitions. She received the key to the city from former mayor Penn Woods, along with awards from The Ark Of Walker County. For her work with veterans, she received Patriot Of the Year along with letters from five presidents and numerous senators and congressmen thanking her for her service. Working with veterans she also sent out thousands of appreciation certificates and visited hospitals and nursing homes for veterans.
Angie was loved by all who knew her. Her presence on Earth will be greatly missed but she is leaving behind a legacy. She loved her family, her church and her many friends and pets. Rest In Paradise beautiful lady.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Jerry Gossett; father and mother, Charlie Giovino and Roselee Messina Giovino, as well as her stepmother, Trena Giovino; brothers, Charlie and Norman Giovino; and nephew, Michael Giovino.
Angelina is survived by her sons, Jerry and Sam Pilato; her siblings, Anthony (Joann) Giovino, Patricia Mahoney, Marie Artale and Charlie (Lisa) Giovino; nephew, Larry (Pam) Keel; grandchildren, Sammy (Alyssa), Amy (Jared), Charlie (Maranda) and Jordan (Gayle) Pilato; and step-grandchildren, Shane (April) and Jason (Desire) Poer. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Sam, Sophie and Skylar Pilato, James Clay Tate, and Jared and Johnathan Black; and step-great-grandchildren, Caleb, Haley and Mac Poer. Angelina also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and cousins and loving family friends Karen McCoy, Hollie Nabors and Kyra Powell.
