Mr. Carl Matthew Davis

Carl Matthew Davis Carl Matthew Davis, 84, of Jasper, was born November 17, 1932 in Franklin County. Carl Matthew Davis was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 25, 2017. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of almost 61 years, Ann Mays Davis; and their children, Carl L. Davis (Cindy) of Wadley and Vicki D. Lawrence (Danny) of Jasper. He was affectionately called Granddaddy and Matt Matt by his five grandchildren who loved him dearly, Matthew Davis (Carrie) of Auburn, Leslie-Ann Snead (Ben) of Homewood, Tyler Hutchison (Britney) of Jasper, Trey Hutchison of Jasper, and Davis Hutchison (Karissa) of Jasper. He has four precious great-grandchildren, Kaydence Hutchison, Jase Hutchison, Meg Davis and Ann Copeland Snead. Matt is also survived by one brother, Ellis Davis and one sister, Lera Lovett, both of Russellville, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Velma and Dock Davis; and his in-laws, Mary Lou and Leslie Mays. Mr. Davis retired as a manager for AT&T after 38 years of loyal service. He was a veteran of the Korean War, a member of First United Methodist Church of Jasper, and a Boy Scout Leader for many years. Matt enjoyed camping and hunting on his son Carl’s farm in Wadley, fishing with the grandchildren, attending the grandchildren’s sporting events, tailgating and attending Auburn Football games, The Breakfast Buddies, and eating out with special friends on Friday night. His sweet spirit and kind heart will be greatly missed by his family and friends. In lieu-of-flowers any memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the First United Methodist Church of Jasper. Pallbears will be Matthew Davis, Tyler Hutchison, Trey Hutchison, Davis Hutchison, Ben Snead, Ronnie Lovett, and Kevin Wieseman. The funeral service will be Tuesday, February 28, 2017, at 1 p.m. at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home, with visitation from 12 until 1 p.m. Burial will be at Walker Memory Gardens. Tex Ergle and Alan Beasley will officiate.
