
Charles L. Banks from Jasper, Alabama, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on May 11, 2016, at Brookwood Baptist Hospital. Family and friends will be received on Saturday, May 14, 2016, at First Baptist Church in Jasper, Alabama from 12:30 to 2 p.m. The funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery. Mike Adams officiating. He was a member at First Baptist Church in Jasper, Alabama where he served as a deacon. He will be remembered there for his service teaching in the class he loved until the time of his final hospitalization. He was a Chaplin for Alacare, Disaster Relief through the Alabama Baptist State Convention, and served on the North American Mission Board. He was Chairman of the Jasper Water and Sewer Board and served on that board for 18 years. He also served on the Jasper Zoning Adjustment Board for 24 years. He was employed by Bell South for 36 years. His legacy as a father and patriarch of his family is timeless. He is welcomed in heaven by those who have proceeded him including his father, J. Chester Banks, and his mother, Auline Sherer Banks. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jonell Kiker Banks; his son Greg Banks M.D. and his wife Sandra Banks; his grandchildren Amy Banks Freeman M.D, and Adam Banks. The family would wish that in lieu of flowers that contributions would be extended to First Baptist Church in Jasper, to continue the work to share God’s Word. The family wants to extend a special thanks to the nurses and staff on the seventh floor of Brookwood Baptist Medical Center for compassionate care beyond measure.
