Clara Thompson Sartain

Family will be receiving friends on Friday, March 4, 2022, from 12:30 until 2 p.m., at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home. Service will follow at 2 p.m., in the Kilgore-Green Chapel, burial at Day Cemetery. Kevin Stanford will officiate.

She is preceded in death by her husbands, Robert Boyd Sartain and James Henry Hood; parents, Alva Thompson and Fannie Cathren Thompson; siblings, Carrie Booth, Ova Mae Perry, Lindsey Thompson, and Leonard Thompson.

She is survived by her children, Linda Walton (Terrell) and Larry Hood and Lisa Wallace (Phillip); grandchildren, Michael Walton (Mona), Larry Hood Jr. (Dana), Lacie Madison, Brandon Denton (Hanna), Tyler Hood, Whitney Graves; sister, Eunice Walton and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Clara worked for the Postal Service for many years and become the Postmaster in Oakman before retirement. She enjoyed attending the Postal Conventions all around the country. Clara and her husband Boyd who was a Navy Veteran enjoyed attending Navy reunions all across the Nation. She was an amazing cook and her church family always requested her delicious homemade dumplings. Together she and her husband grew a huge garden each summer. They canned and put up all the good things they grew. Most of all she loved cooking and spending time with her family.
